This is going to be a good year. I can just feel it.
For one thing we started the year with 2 cars, no injuries and no illnesses - a first for the Mertz fam!
With hopes and dreams comes hard decisions, dedication, change and hard work. This year will be full of the above and I'm praying and working hard to prepare for these challenges. Here are a few of my goals for the new year!
Aviation/ Career:
1. CFI (Certified Flight Instructor)
I'm trying really hard to get enough hours for my ATP before my written expires. (see #2) This will help me reach those goals. It will also help solidify my knowledge and improve my skills to gain more responsibilities in my current job.
2. ATP (Airline Transport Pilot)
This is required for a career in charter or the airlines to fly certain planes or act as a captain. (Very simplified for my non flying friends) I need the hours to take this in August before my written expires!
Personal: (Disclaimer- some of these are very random!)
3. Water- Drink at least one Camelbak water bottle a day. ( This has been so hard!- not the drinking part but the having to pee like 15 times a day part. I kinda prefer dehydration haha)
4. Dryer Lint- Remove EVERY time (Hubby Pet Peeve)
5. Laundry- unwad my jeans and socks (HPP)
6. Work outs- 1 early morning gym session and
Toneitup work outs the rest of the week. These girls are my trainers! They post great free workouts that I can do on the road and are fun in the process.
7. Kitchen Routine- Fill up water bottles, Brita and ice cube trays (HPP :) ). Set coffee out for the next day, sweep and wipe down counters. When I wake up in the morning I feel ready to start the day instead of picking up from the night before!
8. Budget- Hubs and I finally created a budget and we have daily spending sheets to fill out through out the month. He then updates the budget a few times so that we can see how much we've spent in each department. So far it has worked really well for us and we are excited to see how we can be better stewards of God's money :)
9. Cleaning Routine- This is one I'm really excited about. Up till now I would designate one day as cleaning day, or clean as it looked dirty. I inherited some clean genes so it never got too out of hand (although I am nothing compared to some of my family members...) I have a new organization system that I will go into more detail later but basically I made myself daily chore cards to keep the house in a constant state of cleanliness with just a little cleaning each day. If I'm gone on a trip I can just check all the days I was gone for and double or triple up.
This is what I based my organization system on:

I follow this lady on Instagram which inspired me to create my own cleaning system:

10. Devotionals- Read a chapter each day, memorize 1 Peter 1 with accountability partners.
11. Attitude- Life is sweet. Life is simple. Even though our life can get busy, I keep reminding myself that this is such a special season and to enjoy the whole process.
What are some of YOUR goals for the year?
